'Pride' bus to join the parade in Leeds

  • Special discounted ticket for all-day travel across West Yorkshire to support festival-goers and families

A First Bus double-decker emblazoned with the Pride colours and a message of community support will again loom large in the Leeds Pride parade this weekend (Sunday 21 July).

First Bus in Leeds has been a supporter of the city’s Pride Festival for a number of years and the importance of the richness that comes from diversity and inclusivity across society is one that resonates strongly with the operator’s values.

As part of its continued commitment in helping create easier access to Pride events and festivals, First Bus has created a special discounted ticket costing £3.50 for unlimited travel on the day across West Yorkshire.

The ticket will be on sale from Saturday 20 July and details of how to purchase can be found by visiting https://www.firstbus.co.uk/leeds/plan-journey/live-local-spend-local-travel-local/leeds-pride

A spokesperson for First Leeds said: “We hope this will enable, in particular, lower income households and disadvantaged groups to relieve some of the pressure that everyone faces with the cost of living crisis and enjoy the spectacle of the Pride Festival."

The spokesperson added: "We launched our bus with the special Pride livery in 2022 and it continues to carry the message to communities throughout Leeds, not just in Pride Month but every day of the year.

“Our business is on a journey to a place where everyone is welcome, can be their true selves and can succeed. We have a growing programme of awareness to help knowledge and understanding among our colleagues and are building a team that represents the diversity and difference in the communities we serve.”
